Oklahoma Masonic Symposium

To District Deputies, Worshipful Masters, Wardens, and Brethren:

The Grand Lodge is hosting the first annual Oklahoma Masonic Symposium on September 7, 2019, at the Grand Lodge Building. The theme of this conference is “The Revival of Freemasonry in Oklahoma.” This theme is based on work done this year by the Grand Lodge in assessing the condition of Masonry across our state. The statistical analysis which has been undertaken this year calls every Masonic leader in Oklahoma to become knowledgeable that we are on a path of decline which we cannot recover from unless we start making some important changes in how we do things over the next few years. To give you just one example of our situation, in ten years the fraternity in Oklahoma will be where the Odd Fellows are today—few in numbers, with a few lodges scattered about the state—below a critical level in which they cannot overcome.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way! There is a real possibility we can see a renaissance in Freemasonry over the next twenty years! But it won’t happen without a statewide effort to become aware of where we are now, what needs to be done, and how we can get on a path of growth.

The agenda for the Oklahoma Masonic Symposium is provided below. I hope you can agree that the items to be covered should be of great interest to every sincere Mason. I hope you can be in attendance. Every area of the state needs to be represented. There is no charge unless you desire to stay for the festive board. The Oklahoma Lodge of Research has generously agreed to underwrite the costs of the seminar.

I look forward to your presence on September 7!

With Regard,
Mike L. Dixon, Grand Master
