Speaker’s Bureau – Via Internet

Please note that in addition to the normal considerations for speakers, listed in the Speakers Bureau brochure, there are special concerns when booking a speaker to address your lodge via the Internet, including:

1. High speed Internet at your lodge: Because you will be streaming video and audio, you should have a good Internet connection at the lodge.
2. Audience-appropriate screen: You obviously don’t want your lodge members huddled around a laptop screen to watch the speaker. Will you project this on a screen? Does your lodge have a HDMI-compatible big screen TV?
3. Audience-appropriate audio: Likewise, built-in laptop speakers are not sufficient to carry a speaker’s voice throughout a lodge room. You’ll next external speakers, or to plug into your lodge’s audio system.
4. Ability to ask questions: Ideally, your computer should have a web cam, so lodge members can ask questions of the speaker. If not, arrange to have someone in the room sit at the computer and type questions to the speaker over a chat application.

Most importantly, make sure you install the web conferencing software that the speaker uses and test it prior to the lodge meeting night, including ensuring that it meets all of the capabilities above.
